Dragon Rider Warplane

Chapter 726

Chapter 726: The Feast

“Take him out!”

The leader of the Hyena mercenaries, One-Eye, quickly switched to a new magazine, pouring fire towards the figure in the night.

Although modern bullets primarily use smokeless powder, they do not completely eliminate the smoke produced by gunpowder combustion.

The sharp scent that irritated the nasal passages mixed with lightly lingering gun smoke filled the air, making visibility in the dark even more unclear.

Perhaps the target had been stung like a wasp’s nest!

Many mercenaries’ eyes shone with a bloodthirsty and cruel light.

Mercenaries were already lawless, butchers by profession, executioners who would stop at nothing to achieve their goals.

They skillfully unleashed a fan of fire, a barrage that swept through like a powerful force, making it nearly impossible for the target to escape, even if he had wings.

“Stop firing!”

The gunfire lasted about thirty seconds before One-Eye finally called for a halt.

The ground was littered with bright yellow and bronze bullet casings.

The localized heat generated by the gunfire made the cold wind that blew in an instant turn into a warm and pleasant spring breeze against their faces.

But just a second later, the biting night wind made them feel as if they had fallen into an ice cellar.

The dense barrage seemed to vanish into the ethereal void, and the figure continued to walk towards them, seemingly unaffected, step by step, with a firm determination.

Getting closer, the faint sound of footsteps weighed heavily on their hearts, like a hammer, striking again and again.

“This—this is impossible!”

One mercenary looked incredulously at his Ultimax 100 light machine gun; the hot barrel and the acrid smell of gunpowder reminded him that this was not a dream.

Gasps filled the air as everyone around him breathed in sharply.

But he and many others couldn’t understand why with so many of them and so many guns, they had achieved nothing. Their weapons were the finest, not just sticks for fire.

This defied logic!

The dense bullets should have burst upon the target’s body, fiercely tearing into fresh, warm flesh, with powerful energy crashing into the opponent, pushing him back continuously.

The one who fell to the ground should have been a mangled pile of meat.

“Damn it! Keep firing!”

One-Eye realized they were in deep trouble. The intensity of this bounty exceeded his imagination; if it were that easy to take down, it wouldn’t be so richly rewarding.

What kind of equipment did the target have that could ignore so many light weapons’ attacks?

Now, they could see clearly: dark red projectiles struck the figure’s body and were gently deflected away, utterly unable to penetrate.

Neither the head, chest, hands, nor feet could the bullets stop the figure’s advance, not even hinder his movements. The barrage felt like a shower of weak little stones, and the figure showed no interest in even waving his hand to dismiss them.

That guy approached them with an attitude of proud disregard.

Now, One-Eye was no longer thinking about how to complete the mission but rather how to survive and return. If any of his subordinates could escape, it would be a bonus; he had prepared himself mentally for the possibility of not getting out unscathed.

Damn, was that guy a robot?

It must be highly advanced tactical armor. If he could possess a dozen sets, their mercenary team would immediately become the top team in the industry.

“Kill him!”

Ignoring light weapons—doesn’t that mean he can run rampant on the battlefield filled with a hail of gunfire?!

Envy! Jealousy! Hatred!

It was hard to describe the mindset of the Hyena leader at this moment.

Even though they had the most advanced individual combat weapons currently available, the mercenaries couldn’t help but step back involuntarily. They couldn’t imagine what method would actually kill a target that seemed invulnerable to firearms.

Assault rifles were useless, machine guns ineffective, and even the defensive grenades they threw only lightly tickled the target.

Surrounding their opponent’s form was a faint shimmering light membrane responding to the rain of bullets and explosions—this thin membrane was incredibly tough, seemingly unbreakable.

A faint light glass shield!

This miniature tactical magic, once used on the massive body of the gold giant dragon, was effortlessly cast on the Dragon General.

Although the elemental energy in this world was highly inert and nearly impossible to harness with mental recovery, Lin Mo, now more proficient with light element battle energy than in another world, had enough light element energy to independently use this spell.

While he couldn’t guarantee it would completely block all light weapon attacks, it would absorb some of their lethal force, combined with the Dragon General’s own defense capabilities, ensuring a near-perfect defense.

“If we can’t kill him, damn it! Can anyone tell me what’s going on?”

“He’s a devil!”

Even before their enemy launched a counterattack, the mercenaries’ morale already shattered.

“White Camel! This isn’t working; do you have any ideas? At this rate, we could have casualties!”

One-Eye shouted to his second-in-command, a tall, thin white man, who was always known for his clever ideas, making him something of a strategist for the team.

Every mercenary was a precious resource; they were not outlaws, and losing any one of them would be an irreplaceable loss.

One-Eye clenched his teeth and changed the magazine; even if the opponent were a raptor, with such fierce firepower he should have been turned to mush by now.

What kind of background did this opponent have, and how did he possess such terrifying equipment? Was that an energy shield?

It was bizarre, too bizarre!

“White Camel” stopped firing and, expressionless, looked at One-Eye before numbly saying, “No, we are doomed.”

“What?!”

The magazine was quickly swapped, and just as One-Eye cocked the gun to take aim at the target again, he suddenly froze.

That guy had disappeared.

Suddenly, a scream erupted from their ranks, accompanied by thick, acrid gun smoke, filling the air with a sweet, metallic scent of blood.

“Damn it, he charged in!”

One-Eye’s face turned pale; they had kicked a rock and ended up on a dance floor of bullets.

“Scatter! Scatter! Don’t let him get close!”

“Get the RPG, bind the cluster grenades!”

Screams echoed through the team; death and fear spread like a plague.

Terrified, One-Eye suddenly saw a black figure withdrawing a sharp spike from the neck of a mercenary, twisting it effortlessly.

He recognized the mercenary—Turkish man known as “Brake,” but he had already lost his life, and with the twisting of the three-edged spike, his neck seemed to turn like rubber, easily twisting until his head could no longer be supported.

Such a terrifying scene made many mercenaries, who feared nothing, let out chilling howls from the depths of their souls.

The lethality of cold weapons instilled a fear deep within everyone.

“No!”

One-Eye’s eyes turned red in an instant.

He could accept being shot in the head, blown apart by a grenade, or obliterated by artillery, but this cruel method of death was something he could never accept.

One-Eye shifted the gun, but the opponent vanished like a ghost, and one mercenary after another fell into pools of blood, unable to fight back.

This was a bloody massacre.

Boom! A heavy thud echoed, as if something weighty had slammed down in front of One-Eye.

He focused and saw a mercenary, as if hit by a freight train, his body crumpled inwards. That jolted him to awareness; he noticed that the gunfire had somehow ceased, and besides the cold night wind blowing, all he could hear was his own ragged breathing.

“White Camel! Frog! Camera…”

One-Eye weakly called out his subordinates’ code names, as if trying to summon their souls, but there was no response—no one answered, not even a scream.

That devil could be hiding anywhere, ready to strike and take his life. Though One-Eye’s gun was fully loaded, he had no chance to fire a single shot.

Suddenly, One-Eye felt as if struck by lightning, his body froze, unable to move. He gasped a few times but couldn’t make a sound. He stared blankly at the long spike that pierced through his chest, and the light of life in his eyes quickly dimmed.

Until his last breath, One-Eye did not look back.

He knew that figure in black tactical armor was standing behind him.

Total annihilation!

The three-edged spike was pulled out without resistance, and with a flick, the blood drops that clung to it splattered onto Syria’s parched ground, the specially made weapons of modern military matching the finest ancient weapons.

“Great job!”

From a distance, a figure holding a night vision scope couldn’t help but exclaim.

“Black Fox Number Two reporting, Black Fox Number One—Hyena is completely wiped out! It was the Dragon Knight.”

“Black Fox Number One received, Black Fox Number Two and Black Fox Number Four, be careful. The Dragon Knight cannot identify friend from foe right now, don’t let him notice you.”

“I’m Black Fox Number Four; I think he has already noticed us.”

In the special encrypted wireless channel, Black Fox Number Four’s voice was filled with helplessness.

“What?! Black Fox Number Four, don’t act rashly!”

Black Fox Number One immediately became tense. Their task was covert protection; the enemy had no idea about their identities. If any conflict broke out, they had been watching a show just moments ago, but the next second, it could be their own people in trouble.

“No, he must know our identities! He waved at us,” Black Fox Number Four reported next.

“It’s the Dragon General; I should have figured that out earlier.” Black Fox Number One suddenly had an epiphany. The tactical armor was already equipped with various special equipment, so it was not surprising that he could detect the nearby Black Fox Number Four in the pitch-black wilderness.
