Dragon Rider Warplane

Chapter 781

Chapter 781: Caught Red-Handed

Hearing the Aircrew Group’s men chuckle meaningfully, Li Muling felt a flush on her face. She pretended not to hear and said nothing further to the Aircrew Group leader, walking straight towards the white wall.

"Don’t enter the tiger’s den, how can you catch a tiger cub?"

However, Old Pan and the mechanics from the Aircrew Group noticed a hint of frustration in Li Muling’s posture. They all silently exchanged glances, amusement shining in their eyes.

A smile crept onto Old Pan’s face, and he shook his head. Well, internal digestion is also a good idea; at least the water won’t flow to outsiders.

It was unexpected that Major Lin Mo had this kind of ability to captivate the Intelligence Group’s Twin Stars. No wonder he had been visiting the intelligence department frequently lately.

These folks had misunderstood Lin Mo; he was there to seek information from Captain Xie Fengdao regarding "Abyss Nirvana," not for the reasons they thought.

Hearing footsteps on the steel steps in the work area, Lin Mo stopped what he was doing, turned around, and was surprised to see the Li sisters from the intelligence group, though he couldn’t tell which was the older sister and which was the younger.

The area under the responsibility of "Night" was not small, especially after Lin Mo joined, where any location pointed out by missiles could become part of "Night’s" operational territory. The various combat units and members had few opportunities to meet, with only two special forces squadrons usually stationed in the Underground Base, rotating three special forces teams out for combat.

Lin Mo rarely encountered this pair of twins in over half a year.

Lin Mo asked directly, "Are you the older sister or the younger sister?"

"I am Li Muling!"

Li Muling introduced herself while secretly observing Lin Mo.

Once they spoke, the sisters’ auras appeared entirely different.

Older sister Li Muxin was like a calm pool of water, unruffled, always composed regardless of the situation, rarely showing any emotional fluctuations, as if she had everything under control.

In contrast, younger sister Li Muling was lively and energetic, skilled at breaking through barriers, her words filled with wit.

Between the two, Lin Mo preferred dealing with older sister Li Muxin.

"What do you need from me?"

Lin Mo frowned.

The younger sister’s impression on him was not very favorable.

"People don’t visit the temple of the Three Treasures for no reason," Lin Mo noted, seeing the expressionless face of this intelligence personnel, indicating that she probably didn’t bring good news. Even if it was good news, it seemed unlikely that the intelligence group would be seeking him out.

"I came to learn about the situation!"

Finding out information was always a classic excuse, a universal opening for interrogation.

The intelligence department and disciplinary committee excelled at this psychological tactic; the inexperienced often relaxed their defenses, which ultimately crumbled without any effort.

While saying this, Li Muling stared intently at Lin Mo’s face, trying to find some sign of weakness.

Yet, she was destined to be disappointed. Lin Mo remained calmer than she was, as if he didn’t fully grasp the meaning of her words, simply acknowledging with a noncommittal “oh!”

Li Muling felt a pang of frustration inside.

This guy was more difficult than she had imagined, giving the impression of being full of weaknesses yet somehow unassailable. Still, she sensed something wasn’t quite right; he must be hiding some secret.

She had to uncover that secret, even if it didn’t prove Lin Mo was a spy or show any inclination to betray.

Their initial probing clash yielded no results, achieving nothing.

Impatience never wins hot tofu. Li Muling, as an elite member of the Intelligence Group, deeply understood this. Compared to her peers who only knew how to frolic, she was much more cunning and patient.

After asking several questions about Lin Mo’s past fieldwork, Li Muling carefully observed his expressions, not missing a single detail of his micro-expressions.

"Alright, thank you, Major Lin, for your cooperation. I have finished my questions," she said, choosing to retreat after asking more than ten questions.

She wouldn’t foolishly raise sensitive topics that might alert him; she believed in reeling in the big fish with patience.

"Oh! No need to thank me; if you have any questions later, you can find me."

This was a war of attrition, and the Dragon Knight didn’t even know he was being watched.

"Okay! Then you can get back to work; I won’t disturb you."

Li Muling felt she had made some progress; at least the other party did not show too much resistance, indicating that there would be future opportunities.

Although there weren’t any substantial gains, she sensed that the other party’s vigilance was gradually crumbling, which was a good sign.

"Wait!"

Lin Mo suddenly called out as Li Muling turned to leave.

"What’s the matter?"

Now it was her turn to feel puzzled.

"I found some things, and it’s best the Intelligence Group checks them out!"

Li Muling watched as Lin Mo grabbed a few items from a tray on the workbench and handed them to her. It wasn’t a big deal until she looked closely, and it nearly made her furious, smoke practically coming from her ears.

Wasn’t this exactly the tapping devices she had painstakingly installed in the fighter jet?

What did returning them to her mean? Was it a show of force?

Li Muling almost leaped up in shock.

But in the next second, she suddenly realized, no, this was a trap to make her confess.

That was close!

She almost revealed her hand.

No wonder she was one of the best at gathering intelligence among the Twin Stars. Li Muling’s mind raced with dozens of thoughts, and she casually glanced at the broken reconnaissance device Lin Mo handed over, pretending to be surprised as she said, "These are listening devices. Where did you get them?"

Li Muling acted very surprised, and her expression immediately turned serious, treating it like a major incident.

Women are born actors, and those in intelligence are especially exceptional.

"I found them this morning while organizing the fighter jet. You should know that I personally designed and assembled this aircraft, and I’m familiar with every spare part inside. It’s simply outrageous that anyone would dare to place a tapping device in my fighter jet. Lieutenant Li, this is a very serious espionage case. Someone secretly infiltrated our base. I hope the Intelligence Group can immediately find out who has the audacity to do this. Hmph, I will make them know my strength!"

Lin Mo was extremely angry, and that made him more alert. This was a provocation against the Air Knights.

Installing a tapping device now could lead to installing missile targeting signals next time, or even planting a bomb. Nothing could be more infuriating; Lin Mo’s private fighter jet absolutely could not allow outsiders to tarnish it. This case was serious enough to shake the military.

He had to follow the clues and dig out this organization and wipe it out. Lin Mo’s tone brimmed with killing intent.

Hearing Lin Mo’s words, Li Muling gasped, realizing her failure was not due to bad luck but because she had overestimated herself, showing off in front of Guan Gong.

She had overlooked the fact that Lin Mo was also an aviation expert.

To a professional, an inconspicuous little item appearing where it shouldn’t be is no different from a piece of red cloth suddenly appearing in the snow. She felt foolish for underestimating him.

"Yes, yes, that’s right! Extremely serious!"

Li Muling lowered her head, pretending to examine the tapping devices in Lin Mo’s hand, while listening to his clues, hiding her wandering gaze. She didn’t realize she had missed a great opportunity.

Lin Mo was also unaware that his micro-expressions unintentionally revealed he was telling a story that was half true and half false.

This thing was discovered by a gold giant dragon, and by himself, Lin Mo could have very well let this beautiful girl captain succeed.

Li Muling’s much-sought opportunity had quietly slipped by in this unguarded moment.

Lin Mo would never give the enemy such a chance again; it wasn’t too late to mend the pen after losing the sheep. Whether it was the P-51 Mustang or the J-18 Red Eagle, both, like the X-8 monstrous, hid a fragment of the gold giant dragon that provided Lin Mo with 24-hour surveillance.

He actually looked forward to the next time that thief tried the same trick again, as it would mean walking right into a trap. Hmph, with the gold giant dragon on guard, even if The Terminator arrived, it would be like a meat bun thrown to a dog: no return.

Lin Mo spoke enthusiastically, unaware that the real "thief" was far away yet right in front of him, and having witnessed the strength of the aviation expert, it was impossible for him to fall for it again.

"Alright, I’ll take care of this; I’ll pass it on to Colonel Xie!"

Li Muling calmly accepted the damaged fragments, pretending to share the same righteous anger, officially taking on the case for the Intelligence Group.

However, behind her tone and expression, there was somewhat of a feeling of digging a pit for herself to jump into.

"Make it quick!"

Lin Mo’s serious reminder made Li Muling feel a prickly sensation. She truly brought this upon herself.

"Sure, leave it to us. We’ll definitely dig that guy out."

Li Muling’s words were somewhat contradictory; this was an internally authorized investigation. Seeing that Lin Mo wasn’t willing to let it go easily, she sighed, realizing they would most likely need to frame someone to ease his anger.

Such investigations were common in Night; misunderstandings occasionally occurred, but the Intelligence Group always handled them cleverly, ensuring that internal unity wasn’t affected. This method of scrutiny guaranteed each member in the Special Forces maintained absolute loyalty to the country.

The man and woman both had ulterior motives. Li Muling hurriedly retreated, while Lin Mo shook his head and continued tinkering with his beloved machine.

"What’s up? Did you gain something?"

Li Muxin looked at her sister, who returned with her head hung low. Her eyes shifted from the data on the computer screen, and her delicate brows involuntarily lifted.
