Dragon Rider Warplane

Chapter 797

Chapter 797: Stealth Departure

No one expected that a jet fighter, which should have thundered onto the scene, would land so quietly in this way. Was this a ghost?

The personnel stationed in Japan never anticipated that their superiors would send such a fighter jet for extraction. With a fighter like this, why even bother with Japan’s military defense maps?

At that moment, an RC-135 strategic reconnaissance plane urgently took off from the U.S. military base in Okinawa, climbing to an altitude of 15,000 meters, flying at full speed toward Tokyo, while activating all its reconnaissance systems to scan thoroughly.

Though they weren’t entirely sure what was happening, American intelligence analysts sensed that something unusual was occurring on Japanese soil.

“Radio signals detected! I’m going to check it out.”

An OH-1 "Ninja" armed reconnaissance helicopter had just flown over a mountain ridge when it suddenly picked up faint radio signal fluctuations coming from the direction of the coastal road.

This two-seat reconnaissance helicopter, purchased by the Japan Ground Self-Defense Forces from Kawasaki Heavy Industries, was equipped with infrared and laser sensors, along with color cameras and other optical electronics, including a color camera that other reconnaissance helicopters worldwide lacked.

When the “Ninja” detected anomalies along the coastline, Lin Mo, standing on the wings, also noticed the presence of the enemy through the reconnaissance system of his Dragon General tactical armor.

Although darkness enveloped the night, making it hard to see anything alongside the road, the electronics could easily spot targets even in low-light conditions.

Without needing to use the Light Mirror Technique, a display screen inside Lin Mo’s helmet visor indicated the type, speed, altitude, and distance of the target: it was a “Ninja,” a domestically produced helicopter from Japan, an annoying fly.

“Get ready; we’re in trouble!”

Lin Mo turned to glance at Miyazawa Mu, who was struggling to put on his pressure suit, assisted by another support member. Even though the pressure suit performed excellently, putting it on was no easy task.

Miyazawa Mu and the two members of team number four heard the Doppler effect vibrations of the helicopter’s main rotor and changed their expressions in unison. That was a helicopter, possibly even an armed helicopter.

While the jet fighter boasted strong attack power, capable of easily defeating any armed helicopter, being grounded now felt like serving the helicopter a meal on a platter.

With the time required for the jet fighter to accelerate into the sky, they wouldn’t have time to escape, and they were in serious trouble.

Team number four called team number three again, only to find they had all evacuated and couldn’t come to assist.

What to do? What to do? The leader of team number four anxiously circled on his motorcycle, while the person helping Miyazawa Mu with his pressure suit began to sweat. Being anxious didn’t help, and they still kept busy.

“This is really troublesome!”

Lin Mo pressed a button on the fighter’s remote control, causing the optical electronic ink panel on the surface of the aircraft to change color, camouflaging it to match the road, creating an effect of visual invisibility.

Superiors sent Lin Mo and his fighter to pick up the personnel discreetly, not intending for them to be exposed. Lin Mo thought the same; when engaging in off-site combat, one must keep a low profile. Thus, the “monstrous” entry was very “low-key,” and the support personnel didn’t even notice as the fighter quietly passed by, almost causing team four to collectively scream in fright.

The fighter jet employed a hit-and-run tactic rather than a full-on assault like a main battle force.

To maintain a low profile, the “monstrous” fighter intentionally kept its swept-back wings, as forward-swept wings would attract far too much attention, drawing scrutiny back to China and even to Lin Mo himself.

From a special fixed compartment behind the cockpit seat, Lin Mo pulled out a thick black weapon, roughly the length of a sniper rifle, resting one end on his shoulder while aiming the other at the OH-1 “Ninja,” now visible in his line of sight.

Even though the fighter jet couldn’t take off just yet, Lin Mo didn’t want to be a sitting duck.

Aside from the standard tactical pistol issued to pilots, the cockpit also contained offensive weaponry.

A faint charging sound reached his ears as the weapon’s electronics system linked with the Dragon General, and the calibration crosshairs symbol and the weapon’s crosshairs aligned and blinked, indicating a target lock.

With a gentle squeeze of the trigger, Lin Mo leaned slightly back.

He shot with exhilarating precision!

“What was that? Did we see something? Let’s fly over, that’s…”

Boom!

Before the pilot of the OH-1 “Ninja” armed reconnaissance helicopter could finish his sentence, he was engulfed by the massive fireball from the aircraft’s explosion.

Using a 30mm high-explosive armor-piercing round, only Lin Mo could withstand the immense recoil—anyone else would have probably been thrown out.

The ammunition for the electromagnetic railgun was four times more powerful than that of conventional explosive projectiles of the same caliber. Even with a body made from carbon fiber reinforced plastic, the OH-1 “Ninja” could not withstand the impact of solid projectiles at speeds of up to Mach 5 and a range of 12,000 meters.

The OH-1 “Ninja” crumbled like paper, turning into countless fragments that fell like rain. It was a shame for the two dual SAM-2 launchers, which were destroyed before they even had a chance to deploy.

The electromagnetic railgun in Lin Mo’s hands was a weapon he made himself during his spare time, featuring a Ser engine about the size of a teacup along with a supercapacitor specifically designed to provide energy. Even without the assistance of the gold giant dragon, it could charge and fire in just two seconds.

The output power could be adjusted with a small dial, and the 30mm magazine could hold five rounds. If smaller caliber rounds were used, the magazine could hold even more.

A great advantage of the electromagnetic railgun was that it didn’t have strict caliber requirements; any ammunition that met the specified caliber could be fired without a problem.

“You two, stop standing there in a daze!”

Lin Mo frowned, urging the two stunned individuals who had been awestruck by his quick shoot-down of a helicopter.

They needed to hurry up; weren’t they in a rush? What a pair of guys without any mental resilience.

Perhaps only astronauts could remain calm in a situation like this while observing Lin Mo’s performance; the Dragon Knight clearly had high expectations of others.

“Right, right!”

The support member from team four quickly zipped up a zipper. His work was nearing completion, and he walked around Miyazawa Mu, giving him an up-and-down pat, saying, “All set!”

However, when he looked at the fighter jet, he froze and exclaimed, “How do we get up there without a ladder?!”

What a hassle in the middle of all this!

Just as the support member was about to fetch the boss’s Harley Motorcycles, Lin Mo said, “This is simple! I’ll do it!”

Lin Mo jumped down from the wing, grabbed Miyazawa Mu’s pressure suit, and effortlessly lifted him off the ground as if he were carrying Little Chicken. With a gentle push against the ground, he easily leaped onto the wings and placed Miyazawa Mu into the seat in the rear cockpit.

The strong wings could easily support the weight of two adults; even ten people wouldn’t be a problem.

Mark it down!

The support member from team four couldn’t help but whisper the names “Marx, Lenin” in awe, his mouth agape.

Beside him, the deep roar of a motorcycle filled the air as an arm yanked him up onto the bike. He heard the boss’s low voice say, “Let’s go!”

With a quick twist of the throttle, the motorcycle thundered toward the highway leading to the rear of the aircraft, quickly disappearing into the night.

All four action teams had completed their missions and immediately started their retreat procedures; the rest would be Lin Mo’s responsibility.

“Is the stuff still there?” Lin Mo shoved the electromagnetic railgun back into the slot on the seat.

Miyazawa Mu fumbled with his seatbelt and patted his chest, feeling a pebble-sized object pressing against him. He let out a sigh of relief, nodded to the front seat, and said, “Still here! I will protect it with my life.”

“Good! Check the seatbelt again!”

The cockpit cover closed completely, plunging the interior into darkness, lit only by a few electronic signal lights from the equipment. With the faint sound of locking mechanisms, the cockpit suddenly lit up, displaying the view through the water droplet-shaped bulletproof glass canopy.

What is this?

Miyazawa Mu found himself entranced, as if trapped in a dream-like science fiction scenario.

Did the superiors send a time-traveling fighter to rescue him? This felt too fantastical, how could such a fighter exist? Compared to the defense map in front of him, it seemed this aircraft was truly invaluable.

“Brace yourself! Don’t look around! This fighter has strong G-forces; be careful not to break your neck! It’s up to you whether you listen; if it weren’t for your superiors wanting you alive, I wouldn’t care. By the way, did you buy insurance?”

Lin Mo activated the repulsion shield once more, setting the power output to 70%, and the aircraft began to hover. The landing gear retracted smoothly into the body.

The repulsion shield released an anti-gravity field, lifting the fighter jet like oil floating on water, quickly elevating it into the sky.

The engines hadn’t started yet; this felt like the safest approach. Lin Mo didn’t want to attract missile fire before reaching a proper altitude—no matter how stealthy, infrared signatures could not be hidden.

The fighter jet ascended rapidly at ten meters per second, revealing large powered armor and robots in the distance.

Lin Mo swiped across the canopy’s screen, zooming in on the images. Japan’s craftsmanship was indeed exquisite; he wondered how durable it was. He activated the radar and began scanning the skies.

Beep!

Lin Mo jumped at the sudden noise, seeing a large cluster of light spots on the radar screen. Counting casually, he found no less than thirty signals.

Were they preparing for battle?
