Chapter 808

Chapter 808: Double Home (Part 2)

With the shadow of having lost over seventy million dollars in an instant, Lin Mo unhesitatingly rejected Yang Lian’s suggestion. Regardless of whether she meant well, he would never touch the futures or stock market again.

“This child really is something; Mom only wants what’s best for you.”

Yang Lian’s last-ditch effort seemed exceptionally pale and weak. Lin Mo had previously appeared naive and easy to deal with, but after his army training, he became invulnerable, even when it came to state secrets. It really was too scary; could state secrets be printed on money?

“How could something like ‘Abyss Nirvana’ be known to an ordinary civilian?” Lin Mo said, and he was right—what he encountered and what his family faced were entirely different worlds.

“Xiao Lian, stop suggesting things. Xiao Mo doesn’t need the money. With me as his dad, why worry?” Lin Yuanfang heavily placed a piece of chicken into Yang Lian’s bowl, firmly reminding his wife, who seemed reluctant to give up, that while he didn’t know what was on her mind, he sensed her excessive concern.

Noticing the flicker of doubt in Lin Yuanfang’s eyes, Yang Lian realized she had gone too far. She quickly changed the topic while reaching for the chicken, smiling and discussing daily family matters to lighten the mood at the table.

Lin Yuanfang glanced at his current wife, then turned to Lin Mo and offered him a chicken leg, saying, “By the way, Xiao Mo, your classmate, the one named Qi Fei, right? She can spend a million dollars on a BMW and seems quite wealthy. She’s pretty too. What do you think? Does she like you? They say classmates know each other well, and she’s local. If you get the chance, don’t miss it. Are you considering developing something with her?”

His father winked at him playfully, implying something deeper.

Qi Fei?

Lin Mo paused, his motion of bringing the meat to his mouth halting as his gaze drifted off.

That kiss in the little church in America suddenly surfaced from his heart—a fresh, clear memory. It felt like time froze in that moment. He had never experienced such a feeling before.

He couldn’t even remember what emotions he felt back then, but he knew that the Dragon Knight’s unwavering resolve faltered in that second, even when faced with danger!

Seeing his son lost in thought, Lin Yuanfang gradually smiled. It seemed, at that moment, Lin Mo had truly grown up. Finally, he wasn’t a foolish soldier anymore, and that reassured him.

“Hehe!”

Noticing Lin Mo’s dazed expression, Yang Shanshan, who had been watching quietly, chuckled softly. As soon as Dad mentioned Qi Fei, her brother’s face changed so amusingly!

Lin Mo blinked, as if the laughter snapped him back to reality. He shook his head, not speaking, and stuffed the meat into his mouth, ignoring his father’s question.

Yang Lian looked at the two of them, confused, and tapped her bowl with her chopsticks, reminding, “Hey! Xiao Mo, your dad is asking you a question!”

Qi Fei? Which girl is that? Oh, perhaps there is something there. How could someone like her like Lin Mo, this big soldier?

Old Lin once said Lin Mo was quite good-looking. Who knows about his character? As long as he has money, there should be no competition with Shanshan for family fortune. Maybe one day, he could sort things out for Lin Mo. At the very least, this stepmother seemed to care for Xiao Mo.

Without any conflicts of interest, Yang Lian proved to be the standard of a good and caring wife.

“Ha ha! It’s nothing!”

Lin Mo glanced at his stepmother, merely smiling but unwilling to continue on that topic, returning to his food.

“Tomorrow, go visit your mom. When are you going back to the army? Since you’re home, enjoy a few more days. By the way, invite Qi Fei out sometime. You should impress her; with your rank, you can get married, right? It would be good to settle your marriage soon. Your two moms and I can relax knowing you’ll have children while we’re still young enough to help out for a few more years. Once you have little ones, you can focus on your career.”

Lin Yuanfang reminded his son, who seemed a bit dull when it came to relationships. “Don’t miss out on such a great girl.”

“Tomorrow, I’ll swing by my mom’s. As for Qi Fei, I’ll check if she’s in town, but I have to fly to America the day after!”

Lin Mo briefly outlined his schedule. He didn’t even know which girl he preferred since it was not a simple yes or no, but more like choose from three: Qi Fei, Sally, or the Battle Maiden!

“Ah! Brother, you’re going to America too?”

Yang Shanshan, who rarely spoke at the dinner table, suddenly raised her voice, looking at Lin Mo in disbelief.

“What’s wrong?”

Lin Mo gaped, glancing between his father, stepmother, and sister, all sharing similar expressions. It wasn’t such a big deal to go to America, was it?

“Ha ha! What a coincidence!”

Lin Yuanfang suddenly laughed, putting down his chopsticks, and said, “Shanshan is going to study abroad in America soon, with a flight the day after tomorrow. What a coincidence!”

“Yeah! Xiao Mo, why don’t you go with Shanshan? It’s nice to have someone to look after you on the way. Are you flying to Washington or San Francisco? Have you booked your ticket yet?”

Yang Lian mentioned two cities from the East Coast and West Coast of America. With a brother in the military protecting her, she felt reassured.

“I’m going to Tennessee. I plan to buy my ticket tomorrow.”

The inventor of the Boyce Hydrogen-Oxygen Decomposition Tank had given Lin Mo his address via email, which was also in Tennessee. Although international flights weren’t always readily available, there were usually a few backup tickets before takeoff.

After all, it would be in America, so the landing point wasn’t very important to Lin Mo.

“That’s perfect! Shanshan’s flight is to Washington, and Tennessee is quite close. I’ll ask if there are any tickets available right now!”

Lin Yuanfang jumped into action, immediately picking up the phone to make inquiries.

Before long, the ticket agent replied that there were still available tickets, confirming Lin Mo’s expectations.

“Xiao Mo, give me your ID number, uh! Wait, how do you military guys book tickets? I’m not very familiar with this process. Do you need any documents?” Lin Yuanfang looked at Lin Mo, holding his phone.

“Dad, let me handle this!” Lin Mo reached out and took his father’s phone, providing a name and a string of ID numbers. He booked a first-class ticket, and coincidentally, Yang Shanshan also booked first-class for the same flight.

Morin?

Lin Yuanfang frowned upon hearing that. His son was clearly using a different name and ID, one that belonged to an unfamiliar person. Don’t soldiers get IDs before leaving the military? Where did this ID number come from?

Seeing the confusion on his father’s face, Lin Mo explained, “It’s for work. The military provided me with another protected identity.”

“I see!” Lin Yuanfang nodded in understanding.

Although Lin Mo didn’t say much, as a father, Lin Yuanfang could vaguely guess that his son’s position in the military was more complex than just being a pilot. A soldier with only two or three years of service couldn’t easily have a bank account with millions.

The next morning, Lin Mo visited his biological mother again. He Yuejiao hadn’t seen her son in a long time and was overjoyed, asking about his well-being and worrying that others might bully him in the military.

The Dragon Knight was not one to bully others, so there was no need to worry; anyone daring enough to bully Lin Mo hadn’t been born yet!

He Yuejiao only had Lin Mo as her son. After her divorce from Lin Yuanfang, her current husband, Xie Feitian, had no children either. Although it wasn’t spoken, he treated Lin Mo like his own son.

Lin Mo was lucky; even though his biological parents had divorced, he still enjoyed double the love.

When He Yuejiao heard Lin Mo was going to America, she couldn’t help but worry. A mother always worries for her child, so she nagged him repeatedly and insisted on taking him to a branded clothing store, making sure he had several new outfits before letting him go.

In the afternoon, Lin Mo stopped by the Moonlit Lotus Design Center and was surprised to see that Qi Fei’s design company had now been branded internationally.

The Hangzhou branch had become the global headquarters, recruiting many new employees and purchasing two floors of office space. The scale of the company had expanded significantly.

What a surprise! In such a short time, Qi Fei’s business had developed so quickly!

However, Lin Mo didn’t find Qi Fei there. Some older employees recognized him and informed him that Qi Fei was still busy in America and had only come back twice for a few days. She hadn’t returned in the past two months.

Lin Mo remembered the call Qi Fei received from the church priest; just the religious business alone could earn a design company a fortune. This was her golden opportunity for growth, so it was no wonder he couldn’t find her at their Hangzhou headquarters.

With the newly opened American market, a large volume of work needed the young boss’s personal attention to truly establish a foothold in America.

Lin Yuanfang personally drove a business van with Yang Lian to the airport, helping Lin Mo and Yang Shanshan with their luggage. The trunk and half of the van were filled with large suitcases, which made Lin Mo smile bitterly. He only had a backpack with a couple of changes of clothes—his entire luggage for the trip to America.

He Yuejiao had bought him clothes, which he left at the downtown post office because he found it cumbersome.

His sister’s packing habits were completely the opposite of his; perhaps it was due to their stepmother. She seemed to want to bring everything they could possibly take, not caring about the excessive weight and extra fees.

“Bro! Is your English good? Will you be able to understand those foreigners once you get there?”

Yang Shanshan stood beside her brother Lin Mo, dressed cutely and carrying a small teddy bear backpack, quietly asking him as their parents unloaded luggage.
