Chapter 845
Chapter 845: Three Zhuge Liangs
Is this the Lin Mo, Major, and his fighter jet that they came to welcome?
The two Air Force officers exchanged glances; the scene unfolding was truly impressive.
Not only were they startled, but the control tower was also shaken.
“Hello, I am the instructor for this training course, Colonel Cao Yueyang!”
Initially, he had some thoughts of evaluating Lin Mo, but now Colonel Cao Yueyang felt much more complex feelings. Both the fighter jet and Lin Mo’s gear couldn’t be measured by ordinary Fighter Pilot standards.
Could this training course be preparing future aerospace fighter pilots? Colonel Cao Yueyang’s thoughts immediately soared to the endless starry sky outside the planet’s atmosphere.
This training course was definitely extraordinary!
“Hello, I am also an instructor for this course, Major Chen Jun. Welcome, Major Lin Mo.”
Major Chen Jun appeared very enthusiastic. Skill determined attitude; someone arriving in such a manner was certainly not an ordinary person. On the contrary, he was even more eager to engage in simulation battles.
Interacting with strong individuals allows for rapid progress; such opportunities are rare.
“Our instructor team has gathered today. Bring your luggage, and we will accompany you to the preparation team for check-in.”
Colonel Cao Yueyang stepped forward and warmly patted Lin Mo’s shoulder. The feel was surprisingly special—almost more unique than Kevlar. It was entirely different from the standard pressure suit structure he had seen before and appeared to be made of a tough defensive material with likely special functions.
“Sure! Thank you!” Lin Mo smiled and exchanged a few pleasantries with both instructors, officially greeting them.
At this moment, the ground crew’s towing vehicle had arrived, accompanied by a group of armed soldiers.
Clearly, the Alien invasion incident from earlier had not yet faded; the control tower’s order did not have the startled guard unit stand down but instead, they armed themselves to escort the oddly shaped fighter jet into the hangar.
Like many first-time spectators of the “monstrous” variable wings fighter jet, the ground crew at Quzhou Military Airport stood speechless at the sight of the unfamiliar aircraft. It surpassed the typical appearance of a frontline fighter and resembled something only found in science fiction movies. However, its arrival indeed demanded respect, proving it was not just for show.
Its larger frame exuded an unconcealed air of dominance, with a distinctive swept-back tail sting that seemed to radiate the aura of a fierce beast.
Ninety-nine percent of people believed that the tail spike would have some magical special purpose; in reality, it was merely for convenience of carrying.
Lin Mo didn’t carry much luggage; an ordinary small backpack contained everything. The metal box holding the Hydrogen-Oxygen Decomposition Tank he had brought from America remained in the cockpit, and he didn’t need to draw out the Spear of Longinus.
Once the repulsion shield was activated, the entire fighter jet was even more secure than a safe.
Seated directly in the towing vehicle’s passenger seat, Major Chen Jun observed the uniquely shaped fighter jet. Reflecting on what had just happened, he still felt a lingering shock: “How did you show up just now? You startled us.”
“Yeah! It felt like you appeared out of nowhere; your aircraft doesn’t have space jump capability, does it?”
Colonel Cao Yueyang nodded. The way this fighter jet had appeared was too unexpected, and his ‘space jump’ guess prompted agreement from Major Chen Jun; the situation had indeed defied logic.
“Space jump?” Lin Mo chuckled and shook his head, saying, “How could there be such advanced technology? I glided in.” He overlooked the fact that the Ser engine aboard the “monstrous” fighter jet was such advanced tech; countries had likely not publicly announced such energy shield technology yet.
“Glide?”
The two Air Force officers exchanged bewildered glances. The majority of jet fighters, once they lost power, were almost like iron weights—they would simply drop straight down. How could there be any gliding capability? To achieve the strongest maneuverability, weren’t main fighters always designed to be statically unstable?
“That’s right! I’m sorry, I can’t explain much further.”
Lin Mo shrugged and chose not to elaborate. It would just complicate matters, as the technicality might lead to confusion.
Even though fighter pilots could only be considered semi-skilled mechanics, even the most experienced mechanics’ understanding of fighters was light-years apart from aerospace design experts.
“Got it, got it!”
“That’s impressive! Now I understand; I was just curious.”
The two Air Force officers nodded and exchanged glances again. The mysterious nature of this fighter jet was beyond imagination; even if it wasn’t alien technology, it seemed not far off.
They were merely guessing and were miles away from the truth.
The X-8 “monstrous” variable wings fighter jet was sent into a separate hangar. After securing it with a ground lock to prevent easy movement, Lin Mo used a remote control to lock the fighter jet. The Ser force field covering various areas of the jet triggered the Flowing Wave Heavenly Transformation Magic Circle, forming the repulsion shield. As the aerodynamic shape developed into the repulsion shield, the tail spike of the Spear of Longinus was also enveloped within the shield’s force field, making it impossible for anyone to grab it without coming into contact with this otherworldly weapon.
With the guidance of two already checked-in instructors, Lin Mo quickly completed his registration and met with the preparation team members one by one. That evening, a lavish gourmet meal was prepared for Lin Mo at the dining hall of the fighter division stationed at Quzhou Airport, with participation not only from the preparation team and instructors of the 85th Air Combat Elite training course but also from the leaders of the fighter division, gathering around a large table.
Perhaps because the superiors had noted Lin Mo’s impressive appetite in the instructor profiles, the feast organized by the fighter division ensured both variety and ample portions.
The cooking team in the military, after being tested by soldiers from all over the country, had skills that were hardly inferior to those of large restaurants. Whether cooking in bulk or on a smaller scale, they could handle it with ease.
For pilots, smoking and drinking were strictly prohibited. While tea replaced alcohol at the table, the atmosphere remained lively, and Lin Mo enjoyed the meal heartily.
Being in this military setting was fortunate for Lin Mo; otherwise, with his appetite, he would struggle daily for food. A typical civilian job would never accommodate his needs, but only the military, which allowed unrestricted eating, could support a foodie like the Dragon Knight.
After a good night’s rest, Lin Mo arrived early the next day at the airport to clock in at the office designated for the instructors of the training course.
Lin Mo’s experiences as an instructor on two previous occasions had completely different meanings.
For the elite pilot training domestically, the Air Force leadership attached great importance and prepared thoroughly, selecting the Quzhou Air Force Base after extensive consideration.
Quzhou, located in the western part of Zhejiang Province, on the upper reaches of the Qiantang River, has a subtropical monsoon climate with distinct seasons, complex mountainous terrain, and chaotic wind patterns. Typhoons find it difficult to penetrate inland; thus, its geographical environment is remarkably excellent for an air force base. Moreover, it is within operational radius of South Korea, Japan, Okinawa, and Taiwan, making it a core coastal air force base in China.
Though referred to as an office, it served as an exclusive space for communication among the three instructors, adorned with various military maps, some sand models, and different fighter jet models from both domestic and international sources.
Modern office equipment was present, with a printer, fax machine, and photocopier in one corner, and each of the three desks equipped with brand-new laptops, ready for the instructors’ use.
Two large whiteboards lined the walls; one side, without windows, was covered with thick silver brushed steel plates, suitable for writing and using magnets to hang papers. Though the design and setup were simple and not luxurious, they met the users’ needs well.
On his first day, Lin Mo received a preliminary schedule from the preparation team, along with a draft of the teaching materials provided by the other two instructors.
Before the training course officially began, these teaching materials needed to be verified among the three instructors to refine the final courseware.
One week before the course started, the materials would be finalized and sent to a designated confidential printing house, not only for the current students but also later distributed to all aviation units nationwide as a new training program.
After completing the training, the pilots would return to their original units as the sparks of knowledge, bringing what they had learned back to educate more pilots on the newest air combat techniques.
Almost every elite training course elevates the overall combat capability of the Chinese Air Force to a new level.
Among peers, there are always endless topics to discuss, and this room provided a place for Lin Mo and the other two elite pilots to freely exchange ideas.
When capabilities reach a certain level, individuals break away from the standardized production of ordinary pilots. Everyone summarizes their experiences into unique air combat techniques.
With one person’s weaknesses complemented by another’s strengths, the collaboration of three top ace-level pilots leads to open sharing of their air combat techniques in a combination of work and casual conversation.
In the collision of wisdom, various sparks of insight arise.
The items in the office serve crucial roles: white paper for immediate note-taking, fighter jet models for practical demos, and whiteboards for calculations and tactical comparisons. A relaxed and unrestrained environment fosters the release of tactical ideas among the three top-level pilots.
Ultimately, after thorough and detailed reasoning, the curriculum for this training course underwent significant revisions, resulting in a newly revised version of the air combat techniques manual.
