Flirting with the World
Chapter 9
The park was huge. Lin and the Undead walked for a while before they reached the back of the opera house.
Lin observed the opera house from behind. The Undead said, "From here, it looks like it's connected to the opera house, but in reality, it's impossible to enter from here."
"Why?"
"Maybe it's a restriction. Hua Manlou and I have tried to sneak into the opera house from here, but no matter how hard we tried, we couldn't get past the fence."
“???”
"Every time I climbed halfway, the wall would become extremely slippery. There was no pressure point at all. Hua Manlou's qinggong couldn't get past it, so we suspect that this is a boundary condition set by the system to prevent others from entering."
Lin asked, "Are there many such restrictions in the system?"
"It's very rare." The Undead said, "That's why we targeted the opera house from the beginning."
While the two were talking, someone stared at them from upstairs. Lin met the person's gaze, but the curtains were drawn.
"That's the dancers' practice room. They've been practicing since early morning. Tonight's performance is very important to them."
"Everyone knows that tonight's performance will be a disaster."
"Many players are here for this. They all want to catch this ghost."
On the rose path, the Undead lit a cigarette and slowly followed behind Lin. Seeing Lin stop in his tracks, the Undead asked, "What's wrong?"
Lin pulled back and grabbed the Undead's arm. "Go and take a look. There seems to be something in the ditch."
The Undead walked closer, glanced, and said in a relaxed tone, "What do you think it is?"
"It's white …" Lin Dao said, "Is it a person?"
The Undead said, "It's just a plastic bag."
It was only then that Lin took a good look. A dancer in a ballet costume was lying motionless in the canal. Her white costume was stained with specks of blood.
"… Isn't this a person?"
The Undead said, "Then what do you think is there to be afraid of?"
Lin said, "… There is indeed nothing to be afraid of."
The Undead jumped down, picked up a thick wooden stick, and poked the dead person. "She's been dead for a night. Her skin is rotten, and the blood on her clothes has seeped through."
Lin said, "What should we do?
Should we call the police? "
The Undead said, "In this system, the police are not responsible for the lives of players and NPCs. To put it bluntly, they are NPCs, and they can't deal with ghosts.."
Lin was speechless. "What is this system designer thinking?"
The Undying smiled. "You'll have to ask the producer himself." With that, the Undying flipped the corpse over, revealing a swollen face that had died with a grievance.
Lin was almost disgusted. He turned around and breathed in the fresh air.
The Undead was slightly..........
....................
"She's the one we arranged for last night. She's also the female lead for tonight's performance, Lina."
Lin was speechless. With Lina's death, the Valyrian Guild's plan was almost completely ruined.
The Undead calmly checked the surroundings. There were no bent shrubs or footprints left behind. The only explanation was that Dancer jumped down from the building or was thrown in by someone, and she just happened to fall into the ditch. The severe injuries on her body and the splashes of mud around her were the best evidence.
The manager of the opera house soon came. He arranged for people to remove the female performer's body and repeatedly emphasized to the Undead and Lin that they must not spread the news. The performance was imminent, and Lina's death would definitely affect the mood of the other performers.
After that, Lin and the Undead returned to the guild. The two of them told the other members of the guild about Dancer's death.
Meow was eating a grilled sausage when she heard the news. She spat out the dregs on the table and said angrily, "We spent so much time and effort on Lina, and now she's dead?"
Hua Manlou said, "Could it be that our operation last night was discovered, and someone wanted to kill her to silence her?"
Legolas said, "I have to avenge Lina."
The Undead analyzed, "Lina's death is different from the previous actresses. There are no signs of a fight on her body, and she didn't have any weapons with her. She didn't commit suicide after killing someone. Moreover, Lina is the star of tonight's performance, so it's very likely that the ghosts wanted to control her. As for the possibility of our operation being exposed, it's almost impossible.
I'm more inclined to think that Lina's death has little to do with the ghosts. Maybe someone was jealous of her position as the female lead, or maybe someone wanted to create a publicity stunt, or some other personal reason. "
Meow was still angry. "Lina is such a nice person. She's the only one who's willing to take the risk to participate in our plan. Now that things have turned out like this, what should we do?"
"The plan continues as usual."
The Undead said, "The female lead is indispensable. Someone will definitely replace Lina. When the time comes, we'll have to keep a close eye on her."
Meow put down her fork and immediately recommended herself. "I have to hurry up and find out more information. Tell the substitute actress that she's likely to be the next victim. Tell her to be on guard."
The Undead said, "Go, be careful."
As soon as Meow left, Wuxin came out. She was wearing pajamas and her hair was fluffy. She sat down with a cold face and ate her breakfast.
Lin observed her appearance and movements. She was indeed similar to her impression of her cousin. No, she was her cousin when she grew up. There was a strange and warm feeling in her heart.
Meeting her own family in a completely unfamiliar world was a very fortunate thing. Although she hadn't been in contact with Wu Xin for a long time, and they didn't necessarily greet each other when they met on the road, but the bondage between family members was something that time couldn't completely erase.
"Why are you looking at me?" Wuxin said.
Lin said, "I'm thinking that you looked better when you were younger."
Wuxin's face darkened. She picked up her plate and left the living room without saying a word.
Everyone: "…" They were probably fake sisters.
Lin sighed slightly. "She has the same temper as when she was younger. I can't say anything about her."
The Undead said, "… Maybe all girls need to be coaxed."
Lin said, "Coax my ass. Have I ever been coaxed since I was a child?
Why does she have to be so unreasonable? "
The Undead said, "Can you compare with other girls?"
The Legolas said, "Completely incomparable."
Hua Manlou said, "Wuxin has been talking about you. I thought that a reunion between sisters would be a touching scene. I think she's sad now."
Everyone took turns to persuade her. Lin had to say, "Okay, I'll find a chance to coax her later."
At six o 'clock in the evening, Lin and the other members of the guild had dinner cooked by Meow and went to the opera house with their tickets.
Just like the first day, there were all kinds of people gathered in the square. Many people were lining up to go through the security check. Guns and knives were not allowed in.
Lin wore an elegant red dress. Holding the Undead's arm, she went through the security check and sat down in the front row.
Hua Manlou and Wuxin sat in another corner. Meow sneaked into the opera house in her animal form. The Legolas chose to sneak in from the roof, carrying bows and arrows to protect them in the dark.
At six o 'clock sharp, the symphony started playing. Then a dancer spun under the spotlight. Her body was light and graceful.
Scene after scene, the music was sometimes sad and sometimes cheerful. The dancer's performance was skillful and smooth. The audience was completely immersed in the script.
This play told the story of a noble girl who sneaked into the palace for revenge. She approached the prince and finally fell in love with him. Although the story was cliché, the gorgeous performance on the stage made the audience unable to take their eyes off it.
In the last scene of the story, the two lovers had reached a point where they were honest with each other. The girl got a chance to be alone with the prince, but she still couldn't let go of her family's hatred. Before the tryst, she hid a knife under her shoe, intending to assassinate the prince.
