Chapter 116 – The First Encounter (2)
I jumped from a height of around 100 meters. I felt the air against me as I landed, but I didn’t feel much pain despite my weak body. However, my smartwatch revealed the truth. That fall cost me 15% of my stats from energy conversion. It felt like a waste, but I put the thought aside and quickly ran to Chae Nayun.
“Ah…”
She sat on the asphalt and held her stomach. Her injuries didn’t seem too serious despite taking the powerful blast of magic power without qi reinforcement.
“Kueek!”
At least, that’s what I thought. She coughed a mouthful of blood to prove me wrong. Then she staggered before collapsing again.
“Hey, wake up.”
“Kim Hajin?”
Chae Nayun blankly looked up at me as she breathed roughly. I took out a potion and poured it into her mouth.
“Drink it.”
“Uup.”
Chae Nayun managed to swallow everything, but immense pain would follow.
“Uu! Uk! Uuk!”
She twisted her body before fainting. However, her pulse became steady and her breathing also returned to normal. She should fully recover in 20 minutes. I hid her away in some nearby shrubs. Then I ran to Kim Suho and Jin Sahyuk.
— Try running to that girl. I’ll kill you both.
— Why did you change so much?
— Change? Don’t talk to me so casually. We might be in a new world, but that doesn’t change our past relationship.
Kim Suho and Jin Sahyuk spoke to each other about the past concerning nobles, peasants, knights, continents, and swords. They spoke about things only they could understand. A fight would break out once they finished.
— Siqoal, Rowle!
Jin Sahyuk unleashed her magic power with a roar. She created dozens of spears in the air. The magic weapons flashed towards Kim Suho as he fended them off with a steel pipe he found on the ground.
— Do you really need to do this? What reason is there for us to fight?
— What nonsense are you spouting? You think that pipe will be enough?
She sent her spears flying again like bullets. They carried immense power and exploded like missiles wherever they landed. The spears rained down from the sky as Kim Suho dodged what he could and parried the ones he couldn’t. They left huge craters in the ground that caused many park rides to break down. Disneyland turned into a wasteland after a full minute of Jin Sahyuk’s attacks.
“She’s way too powerful.”
Jin Sahyuk had completely destroyed the surroundings without taking a single step. Kim Suho also didn’t have Misteltein with him. In contrast, Jin Sahyuk didn’t require any weapons. She only relied on her overwhelming steel-colored magic power. Kim Suho couldn’t defeat her. No, the current Kim Suho didn’t even intend on defeating her.
“Huup!”
Kim Suho swung his pipe and sent a magic spear back to Jin Sahyuk. However, Jin Sahyuk’s defense was just as strong. She easily blocked it with a shield of magic power as another spear struck Kim Suho’s shoulder.
“Uk!”
Kim Suho’s qi reinforcement managed to stop it from penetrating, but the impact sent him flying. Jin Sahyuk didn’t miss this opening. More beams shot towards him as he flew. Boom, boom, boom, boom. Kim Suho’s body ricocheted in the air from dozens of blasts. Her attacks continued even after he lost consciousness. I had no choice but to intervene. Thankfully, I prepared some medicine for moments like these.
[Your stats have increased by 1.5 points for 10 minutes.] [An overlapping consumption has further increased your stats by 0.75 points for 5 minutes.] [An overlapping consumption has further increased your stats by 0.375 points for 2 minutes and 30 seconds.]
I felt a surge of energy through my body as I stood in front of Kim Suho. I wondered what I was doing, but reality had deviated long ago from the script. I had to correct it as the extra in this new scenario.
“Give it a rest.”
“Hm? Who are… Oh, the guy from yesterday.”
Jin Sahyuk stopped for a moment as she recognized me.
“You’re his teacher?”
“Teacher?”
I guess I didn’t look like a high schooler with my beard. I smirked and opened my mouth to correct her, but six spears shot past me.
BOOM!
A huge explosion erupted from behind. I fell into a daze at the sudden attack, but soon snapped out of it. I could still feel her killing intent. She wasn’t done yet. I immediately activated bullet time as a spear shot towards my head. I could feel its movement as I tilted my head and narrowly dodged it. BOOM! The spear struck the merry-go-round behind me and exploded.
“Hm.”
I wouldn’t have survived if she continued. However, she only stared in surprise.
“You dodged that? I thought you wouldn’t since you didn’t react at all to the other six.”
My heart beat like crazy as she looked at me with interest. Perhaps she overestimated me because of what happened yesterday. In that case, I could play the role.
“Why don’t you stop here? Kim Suho and I didn’t even bring our weapons.” I spoke as imposingly as I could. She should be content now since she already beat up Kim Suho.
“And why don’t you answer my question? Are you his teacher?” Jin Sahyuk asked once again. I shook my head.
“No. I’m just a friend.”
“Then leave. Otherwise, I’ll bury you along with him.”
Jin Sahyuk acted more violently than expected. I placed my hand in my pocket. It didn’t seem like she would stop. In that case, I should take advantage of her reckless attitude. I compressed aether into a 500 won coin and scanned it. I looked at the number as I slowly took it out of my pocket, 40%.
“What’s that?”
Jin Sahyuk furrowed her brows at the coin.
“I told you, I didn’t bring my weapon.”
“So?”
“So I’ll just have to throw this at your face.”
Jin Sahyuk snickered as I shrugged. Thankfully, her arrogant personality remained. I coughed and carefully asked, “Can I try?”
“Pftt. Try it if you think you can.”
She stretched out her arms to receive my attack. I smiled inwardly as I gripped the coin. I only had one shot to strike her head. I wrapped the coin with all of stigma’s magic power and added an anti-magic property along with one more item.
[Ginseng Pill] — Will seep into and strengthen magic power.
I used a similar method in the past to kill Evandel and obtain aether. I melted the ginseng pill into the magic power around the coin. Then I glared at Jin Sahyuk. She watched me with anticipation and showed no signs of defending. The coin glowed a bright blue after I infused the pill.
“Oho, that’s quite an interesting—”
“Huup!”
I mustered all my strength into my right arm. My muscles bulged as I squeezed out every drop of stigma’s magic power and threw the coin.
Pshuuuu—!
The coin shot towards Jin Sahyuk. Stigma’s magic power enhanced it many times over. Jin Sahyuk calmly watched as she formed a magic shield. No matter how strong her shield, it was only made up of magic power. Drrrrr-! The anti-magic coin drilled a hole in her shield and struck between her eyebrows.
“What!”
The coin pushed her back as she kept her eyes open and withstood the force. Her feet plowed through the asphalt.
“Fuck.”
The coin eventually came to a stop, but Jin Sahyuk showed no signs of losing consciousness. Clang— It fell to the ground and two streams of blood flowed from her forehead.
“That hurt…”
Jin Sahyuk condensed her magic power as she glared at me. However, my coin certainly succeeded in damaging her brain. The brain was vital in wielding magic power. As a result, she couldn’t properly condense her magic power and it repeatedly broke down. This seemed like a golden opportunity, but I couldn’t move anymore. I had nothing left in the tank as a man appeared.
“That’s enough. Get back.”
The mysterious man with her last night appeared out of nowhere. He grabbed Jin Sahyuk’s arm and pulled her back.
“Ah, let me go. I’m fine. I can still kill him.”
Her condition didn’t look good despite what she said. She couldn’t even stand straight and staggered.
“Sigh.”
The man karate chopped Jin Sahyuk’s neck. The light in her eyes faded as the man hung her on his shoulder. Then he coldly stared at me.
“This is our first meeting, right?”
I only nodded since I couldn’t even move my mouth anymore.
“Mm… Well, she won’t be so careless next time thanks to you.”
Then they disappeared.
***
The man had already left with Jin Sahyuk by the time the dispatched heroes arrived. She felt light as a feather, but the man could feel his back growing wet.
“Ah, she’s drooling. Do you have to sleep like that?”
The man placed a mask made from magic power over her mouth. As he left the premises…
“Where are you going?”
A woman’s cold voice held him back. The man recognized it. He paused and smiled in her direction.
“Jain.”
The voice belonged to a woman, but a man dressed as a security guard stood in front of him. Jain smirked and nodded.
“It’s been a while, old man.”
“Yes, it has.”
The man recalled the days he wasn’t called by his name, but a color. He set those useless thoughts aside and asked, “I heard the empty seat will be filled soon. Is the little brat not here?”
The little brat referred to Boss. Only he could call her that.
“I’d rather not see blood,” Jain briefly retorted.
“Oh, worried about me?”
“No, I’m worried about Boss since she can’t win against you.”
“Hmm.”
The man stared at her. With just a look, Jain’s camouflage faded. Soon, her beautiful appearance revealed itself.
“Then why did you come?”
“No reason. I just wanted to see how you were doing.”
Jain glanced at the girl on his shoulder. “Looks like you already found a new child.”
The man simply smiled. “Right, she’s my disciple. She’s a bit special and constantly tries to kill me.”
Magic power condensed around the man’s hand. No, his hand transformed into magic power itself.
“So Jain, looks like you gained some confidence. Or did you just become fearless?”
His hand wavered like a heat wave. Anything he touched wouldn’t come out unscathed. However, Jain remained calm despite his threat.
“Remember what you said? People who have something to protect can’t act as they wish.”
Jain pointed to the girl on his shoulder.
“You can kill me, but I can also kill that girl.”
“I guess you’re right.”
The man lightly smiled. The undulating magic power around him disappeared like it never existed.
“Then I’ll take my leave. It was good to see you.”
The man walked past Jain under the faint moonlight.
“Are you fine just leaving like this?” Jain’s voice rang out from behind him.
“The new black discovered by Boss is a wolf hired solely to kill you.”
The man continued walking without a reply. Like how Fenrir devoured Odin, Boss gave Kim Hajin that name in hopes of reproducing the old myth.
“Fenrir is right there.”
Only then did the man stop. Hidden from Jain’s view was a thick smile on his face.
“I wish him the best of luck.”
The man recalled what he saw before. Jin Sahyuk’s foolishness played a huge role, but the boy had suppressed his disciple with only a single coin.
“It looks like…” The man turned around to reveal his smile.
“He has the potential.”
His easygoing attitude made it seem like he really wanted to die. Jain’s expression turned sour, but she refused to lose and returned an even thicker smile.
