The Place Nearest to You
Chapter 2
After Yamazaki was beaten up by Hijikata, Juushirou, Ando was finally officially recognized as a member of Shinsengumi.
Yamazaki handed the uniform to her with a swollen face, and even nagged her about the iron discipline set by Vice Chief Tsuchikata for the whole afternoon. She felt a little guilty that she didn't remember anything. She only remembered all kinds of things, and she also felt a little guilty. Yamazaki had sacrificed so much for her to join. Not only was he punched and kicked by the Vice Chief, he was also ridiculed by his companions for not being able to beat a woman.
"Well, Mr. Yamazaki, if you are tired, you can go and rest." Ando couldn't bear to see him take care of her with his swollen face.
"You don't understand, Miss Ando."
Yamazaki said seriously, "The vice commander is very scary, so you must remember these rules."
"Oh." Ando nodded as if he didn't fully understand.
Yamazaki continued, "Our vice commander has a very bad temper. If he is dissatisfied, he will beat his subordinates. Also, he is very stubborn and arrogant. He once lost to a woman, but he refused to admit it."
Ando's mouth twitched. The scar hasn't healed, and he's already forgotten the pain. Aren't you afraid of being heard?
Also, what's there to be surprised about losing to a woman? Didn't you lose to yourself too?
"Actually, it's like this."
Yamazaki moved closer to Ando and began to gossip, "Once, we went to a bar and met a young man with one eye and long hair. Yes, he had the same hairstyle as you. Even our vice commander couldn't block her sword, but he refused to admit it."
"Oh." Ando nodded again.
Yamazaki's storytelling skills were very average. She didn't have any impression of the two main characters in the story. She only knew that this Yamazaki with a swollen face was the masterpiece of Hijikata's vice commander.
It seemed that their vice commander had a bad temper and ordinary swordsmanship. It was probably because of his high IQ that he was able to lead such a big Shinsengumi.
"Hey, Ando, don't you like gossip?"
Yamazaki was a little confused. Perhaps it was because they had just shared a little secret, so the way he addressed her became a little more intimate.
"No." Ando tilted his head. "It's just …"
"It's just that this woman isn't interested in our stupid vice captain." A flat voice suddenly came from outside the room, scaring the two of them.
Ando, he was glad that she didn't say anything. Yamazaki covered his head and hid in a corner.
"After all, Mr. Vice Captain is a pitiful creature that needs to be given a woman's underwear." The owner of the voice leaned against the door. There was a super cute eye patch on his forehead.
"Mr. Okita," Ando greeted him.
She could not understand why one or two members of Shinsengumi were so eager to speak ill of their boss.
"Come with me from now on." Okita smiled, revealing an extremely sinister expression. "Let's assassinate Mr. Hijikata."
"Huh?" Ando was shocked.
Okita smiled gently, put his hands in his pockets, and walked away leisurely.
She didn't know if he was happy because he found an "alliance to kill Hijikata", or because he successfully scared this cute girl.
Ando was a girl, and a beautiful girl.
At the age of sixteen, she was like the brightest flower in the morning, delicate and beautiful.
Shinsengumi had never had a woman in it, so now she was surrounded like an orangutan in a zoo. The scary thing was that she was surrounded by a group of male orangutans.
Perhaps it was an exaggeration, but the men of Shinsengumi were looking at her so intensely that she couldn't help but close the door. She met Yamazaki's slightly innocent eyes in the corner.
Ando quickly opened the door and said, "Mr. Yamazaki." She was implying that he should hurry up and leave.
Yamazaki nodded, but he didn't go through the front door. He didn't have the courage to endure the terrifying and jealous gazes of a large group of male orangutans.
For the first time, he was glad that the deputy commander gave him so many opportunities to follow undercover agents. Otherwise, he would have died without a burial place.
It had to be said that the men of Shinsengumi were lacking in girls to a certain extent.
It wasn't easy for them to be police officers without committing any crimes.
"Ando, you've been assigned to the second division." Before leaving, Yamazaki seemed to remember something and suddenly said.
Ando was confused. "Isn't it A long queue?"
Yamazaki paused, then said, "That's not a place for newbies."
Yamazaki seemed to be implying something, which made Ando very curious.
"Why?" Ando asked.
From the moment she joined the group, she knew that since they were willing to accept her, they wouldn't discriminate against her ability because of her gender.
It wasn't that she had to join A long queue, but A long queue's captain was the handsome and young Mr. Okita, wasn't it?
If he could become the captain, why couldn't she join?
Yamazaki was silent for a while, not knowing where to start. "Anyway, the deputy commander has arranged for you to be assigned to the second division.
The most important thing for Shinsengumi is to obey orders, so don't ask. "
"Oh." Ando wasn't the type to get to the bottom of things. Since he didn't want to tell her, she wouldn't ask.
There was still a long way to go. She would find out eventually.
Seeing that she was obedient and didn't ask anymore, Yamazaki said again, "You can report to Captain Eikura."
"Okay." Ando nodded.
"Then, welcome to Shinsengumi."
"Nice to meet you." Ando smiled.
"Welcome to Shinsengumi, Ando-chan ~" a group of single men outside the door said loudly. The mixed excitement made the birds resting on the trees in the yard fly away.
"Thank you, everyone, nice to meet you."
