Dragon Rider Warplane

Chapter 737

Chapter 737: A Bloodbath Caused by a Stone

Dark clouds covered the moon, blocking even the starlight.

The originally clear moonlight filtered through the unpolluted atmosphere overhead, like street lamps casting a faint silver glow around. Even without any lighting tools, one could see clearly in most corners. But now, it was so dark that one couldn’t see their hand in front of their face.

The dim lights struggled to illuminate tiny areas, while the distant flashes of gunfire and explosions barely served as lighting.

“Damn it!”

Jack Roosevelt, not far enough away, couldn’t see what was devouring his men in the darkness.

A tank? An armored vehicle? Special forces?

Who knew what it was? All he heard were the dying screams of his men, indicating a considerable enemy presence.

However, the reality was completely different from what he imagined.

What kind of monster was this, that his men couldn’t find suitable words to describe? It was a terrifying creature that simply should not exist in the real world.

“Oh God, what is that? Chuck, hurry, we need to get out of here!”

Within moments, the Cherokee dashed into the darkness with its headlights on, as Gagor Brown, seated in the co-pilot’s seat, glanced back. The lights near the meteorite crater had mostly gone out; even the generator had fallen silent. Only the makeshift emergency lighting equipment faintly illuminated some contours, but it was unclear what they were.

Was it some kind of monster, or something else?

Gunfire erupted behind them, with explosions echoing like a small-scale war; Mr. Brown almost wet himself in fear.

“I don’t know, but I believe my classmates will handle everything,” Viri Chuck thought. He had no time to reflect; the bright headlights illuminated the path ahead, though calling it a path was a stretch; the wild and desolate mountains had no proper roads. He had to concentrate wholly on the front to avoid crashing into a rock or tumbling into a ditch.

The sounds of gunfire from behind extinguished his eagerness about his student’s specialized job offer, reminding him that this was anything but a stable occupation. He hoped they could manage; God bless Jack, amen!

However, Jack Roosevelt’s feelings were far from the calmness his old classmate imagined. No, he couldn’t be calm at all.

Beside him were only White and Professor Rodriguez, along with a few workers desperately attaching steel cables to the meteorite. They were sweating profusely and couldn’t focus on the battle happening so close at hand.

The other end of nearly a hundred braided wires had already been hoisted under a specially designed heavy-duty hanging frame. A hoist had been prepared long before the excavation, and two small loaders began to operate at full power, ready to pull the partially exposed meteorite out of the pit.

Aside from the sounds of workers and machinery operating near the meteorite, the screams had ceased, and gunfire had disappeared, leaving an eerie silence all around.

This stark contrast made it feel like the entire world had shrunk to just the small area around them.

“White, what did you see just now?”

Jack Roosevelt swallowed hard, his throat moving. He had always protected the collection team’s most important technical expert, not daring to move an inch away.

He knew that although he was the leader of this collection team, his life was worth less than that of the old expert. If anything were to happen to Professor Rodriguez, the company would not spare him or his family.

The strict punishments and shocking bonuses made everyone willingly sell their lives to Bronny Company.

“……”

Hearing Jack’s words, White remained silent, his face pale and his gaze fixed intensely on a certain direction, his eyes nearly bulging out as he panted like a wild beast.

Anyone who had glimpsed the creature had received a one-way ticket to oblivion at first glance, while White and Jack, who provided fire support behind, could only vaguely make out some shapes.

But now he was all alone; everyone else was gone. The darkness felt like a great terror, engulfing their hearts.

However, White no longer worried if Jack would kick him; even if it were ten kicks or a hundred, none of that mattered anymore. They were all doomed, and if the boss wanted to kick, he would have to do it in hell.

Following White’s gaze, Jack Roosevelt squinted his eyes, influenced by the lights near the meteorite, and strained his vision.

Boom!

A small loader suddenly shattered into large fragments. The driver let out a horrifying scream as he was thrown out along with the broken loader, crashing into the darkness. A terrible impact sound echoed from afar, and then there was silence; everyone knew that guy was dead.

The remaining Bronny workers screamed in various ways, rolling and crawling to hide, clearly terrified.

“What was that? What was that?”

Jack Roosevelt’s eyes flickered as he pulled White and Professor Rodriguez behind the massive meteorite.

Unfortunately, no one could answer him.

That was not a weapon like a rocket; it appeared to be the tail of some creature, which instantly rushed out from the darkness and struck the loader violently, then quickly vanished back into the shadows.

Not human? It was a monster!

The geologist Professor Rodriguez was so scared that his legs felt weak. He would rather face a group of thuggish killers than encounter a beast he could not even begin to imagine.

Whoosh! A swift wind howled past!

As the strange wind sounded, the few remaining terrified workers hadn’t even had time to prepare before they were impaled into the ground by over ten thin silver blades, meeting a gruesome end.

Hiding behind the loader and hoist proved useless; the blades that sprang from the darkness sliced through the thick steel of the loader as if it were tofu.

Bright red blood stained the intertwined blades, reflecting a sinister crimson glow under the lights.

Storm Blade Kill!

One of the killer moves of the gold giant dragon against ordinary ground troops; even the thickest armor could not withstand the impact of those sword-like blades.

In the battle, one Storm Blade Kill could effortlessly carve a bloody path through the enemies.

“You little bugs are really annoying!”

Accompanied by a deep, resonant voice, a fearsome giant beast appeared before Jack Roosevelt and the others, its body seemingly made of blades, exuding a chilling aura from the darkness.

“Monster! Die!”

White trembled as he opened fire with his machine gun, unleashing fierce flames. Bullets shot out, expected to create a scene of blood and flesh flying everywhere, but the bullets struck the creature and vanished like stones sinking into the ocean, with no effect at all.

“How is that possible?”

Jack Roosevelt’s eyes nearly popped out; White’s machine gun attack was completely ineffective.

In no time, the ammunition chain in White’s hands was depleted, and what was left fell to the ground in disarray.

“Jack, what is that?”

Professor Rodriguez’s legs gave way as he collapsed to the ground, a foul smell of urine rising from him; his mind had completely shut down.

“No, no, I don’t know!”

Jack Roosevelt trembled with fear. What kind of monster was it—a legendary dragon? It looked very much like one, but didn’t it resemble a lizard?

This creature, shimmering with a metallic glow, was unlike anything he had ever seen or heard of.

But this metallic giant dragon felt like a killing machine, as if his life no longer belonged to him at that moment.

Most importantly, the monster could talk. Humans are the spirits of all things; while there are living beings that can talk, most only mimic or react by instinct.

“You’re quite brave, but that’s not smart!”

The gold element giant dragon moved, quick as lightning, lunging and retreating. White and his machine gun were suddenly taken into its maw; there was a horrible cracking sound, and blood stained the dragon’s fangs.

Jack Roosevelt’s entire security team, including the group leader, all met with untimely deaths.

Professor Rodriguez, lying on the ground, witnessed this terrible scene and rolled his eyes back, fainting in fear.

“What are you, who are you?”

Jack Roosevelt drew his pistol, weakly pointing it at the creature. It wasn’t a threat; it was just a bit of comfort for himself, or he would faint like the geologist.

“Just you left, little bug!”

The fearsome metal giant dragon revealed a terrifying smile. It suddenly turned as if addressing someone, “Morin, should I slice this guy into pieces, or turn him into mush?”

Beneath the remaining auxiliary lights near the meteorite, a figure emerged from the darkness.

A human?!

Jack Roosevelt’s pupils narrowed. He thought he had encountered a coincidence with this dragon-like monster, but didn’t expect there to be a human alongside it.

With the twist of fate, the attack became a deliberate act.

The intricate patterns and lavish armor enveloped the figure, obscuring their appearance; it was a full armor Jack had never seen before, like a knight from another world.

“How should I address you, Mr. of Bronny Company?”

For some reason, the voice felt familiar to Jack Roosevelt.

“Who are you?” Jack Roosevelt quickly aimed his pistol at them, knowing full well that even if he fired, it likely wouldn’t harm the person, yet he had no better means of self-defense.

“Have you forgotten so quickly?”

A black stone appeared before Jack Roosevelt, causing his pupils to dilate suddenly.

“Just a piece of chrome iron ore. Is it really worth it?”
