Four A. M.
Chapter 2
*
Because the composition class was delayed, Lee Hae-na washed her face and ran back to the practice room in the other trainee building. The teacher had already arrived.
Lee Hae-na apologized and bowed. She quickly put down her schoolbag and ran over to Kang Sung-ki and Bae Chu-min.
She was in Class A, and Xu Yiyang was in Class B. She was more familiar with Class A were Kang Sung-ki and Bae Chu-min, who were in the dormitory next door.
It was a miracle that Lee Hae-na, who was afraid of strangers, could be familiar with Kang Sung-ki and Bae Chu-min, who were also afraid of strangers.
Perhaps there really was such a thing as fate at first sight between people.
When Lee Hae-na first came to the company in July 2009, there were not many female trainees left because of the debut of f (x). The only ones left were Bae Chu-min, who came in 2009, and a few other trainees, as well as Kang Sung-ki, who came in 2007.
When she first came to Korea, she was only 12 years old. She didn't even know how to speak or understand a word of Korean. It could be said that she was lonely and pitiful.
Once, she got lost in the company. Coincidentally, there was no one in the trainee building at dinner time. She walked for a long time but couldn't find her way. When she was about to cry, she met Kang Sung-ki.
Probably because she was too helpless before, when she saw someone, Lee Hae-na, who was usually very strong, didn't know why she really cried. Kang Sung-ki was scared and panicked, thinking that something was wrong with her.
The two didn't speak the same language, and Kang Sung-ki didn't know much English. It was simply a headache. In the end, they successfully communicated through body language.
After that, Lee Hae-na liked to stick to Kang Sung-ki. She also liked to secretly bring her strawberry milk. Because Lee Hae-na was cute and beautiful, Kang Sung-ki also liked being close to Lee Hae-na. Gradually, the two became close.
As for becoming familiar with Bae Chu-min, it was because they danced together.
At the end of the month, the company sometimes asked the trainees to work together.
Lee Hae-na was assigned to work with Bae Chu-min on one of the stages for the evaluation.
In the beginning, Lee Hae-na was quite afraid of Bae Chu-min. This was because this sister usually didn't talk much. She was also a senior and was very good-looking. She looked very distant.
Unexpectedly, after interacting with her, she found that Lee Hae-na was very patient and gentle. Even if Lee Hae-na made a mistake, she wasn't anxious. She would gently correct her and didn't give Lee Hae-na any pressure. This made Lee Hae-na feel very touched, and she worked even harder to not be a burden.
Bae Chu-min herself actually came to the company a few months earlier than Lee Hae-na. To be honest, she really admired Lee Hae-na, this little girl.
Although she usually didn't talk much, she was super polite and learned things very quickly. She was the kind of talent who could learn 70% to 80% after watching others dance twice.
With such talent, she still worked very hard. Every day, when she came back at noon, she would start practicing until the early hours of the morning. Not to mention the weekends, even during the monthly holidays, she stayed in the company to practice until late at night.
She was so hardworking that even Bae Chu-min, as a senior, felt inferior.
After that performance together, Bae Chu-min had a deeper understanding of Lee Hae-na.
This child was born to shock people.
She was beautiful, good at dancing, good at singing, and even knew how to play various musical instruments.
The most important thing was that she was very humble. She was not at all arrogant and complacent like the trainees she had worked with before.
Bae Chu-min felt that Lee Hae-na was born to walk this path.
Bae Chu-min liked this child.
She also liked the mango milk she brought her.

"Look at your sweaty forehead. Wipe it." Bae Chu-min printed a tissue on Lee Hae-na's forehead.
"Don't be afraid. The teacher just came." Kang Sung-ki lowered her voice to comfort the nervous Lee Hae-na.
"Those over there, don't talk anymore."
The teacher who taught them dancing was a male. He was usually very easy to talk to, but he was very strict and serious in class.
"I'm sorry!" Lee Hae-na and the other two apologized in unison.
Ms. Park cleared her throat. "As you all know, the end of the month evaluation will be in two days.
This time, the children who don't have enough ability will be transferred down, and new children will be transferred up.
I don't want you to think that just because you're in Class A, you're confident in your dancing.
The reason why Class A is called Class A is because the children in it haven't reached the level of debut. Otherwise, it would have been changed to Class A a long time ago. "
"Next, let me test the results of your hard work in advance." Ms. Park sat on the chair in front of the mirror and began to call out the names on the list.
All the trainees couldn't help but feel nervous. They were afraid that they would be the first to be called.
Although Lee Hae-na didn't care about the number, she still didn't want to be the monkey when it was obvious that Ms. Park wanted to make an example of her.
Murphy's Law told you that if you didn't want it to happen, it would happen.
When Lee Hae-na's name was called first, the rest of the trainees breathed a sigh of relief.
Kang Sung-ki shook Lee Hae-na's hand to encourage her. Bae Chu-min also patted her on the shoulder to show her support.
Lee Hae-na didn't dare to delay. After pursing her lips at her sisters, she quickly stepped out and handed the music to the sound assistant.
Lee Hae-na prepared her own remix for the end of the month evaluation.
Jessie

Domino.
She had choreographed the dance with the help of Kang Sung-ki three weeks ago. After practicing for so long, she wasn't weak at all.
The sweat and effort she put in wouldn't betray her.
She had already memorized the dance steps. She stepped on the rhythm with ease. Every movement was in place, and she enjoyed the performance.
The two-and-a-half-minute dance ended quickly. Lee Hae-na slightly panted and bowed.
Ms. Park was expressionless. She couldn't tell if she was satisfied or not.
Just when Lee Hae-na began to feel weak and thought she was going to be beaten up, Ms. Park finally put down her crossed legs.
"It's okay.
Pay attention to your expression. Some movements are too forceful. You may be breathless when singing and dancing like this. Adjust it. "
After hearing this, Lee Hae-na immediately breathed a sigh of relief. She quickly smiled and bowed again. "Yes!
Thank you, Ms. Park! "
She looked in the direction of Kang Sung-ki and Bae Chu-min. The two sisters gave her a thumbs up. She couldn't help but excitedly make a V sign.
"Next."
…
The other trainees weren't as lucky as Lee Hae-na. Probably because they didn't find a breakthrough with Lee Hae-na, the next trainee who didn't perform so well replaced Lee Hae-na as Ms. Park's monkey. She was scolded until she cried.
After all the trainees finished dancing, the atmosphere in the practice room became a lot gloomier.
But no matter how gloomy it was, the class still had to continue.
This class was teaching Lee Hae-na's weakness, popping. She listened very carefully. She wanted to use her eyes to record every movement of the teacher and practice it repeatedly.
Two hours passed in the blink of an eye.
Lee Hae-na didn't dare to sit down immediately after she finished practicing. She forced herself to relax with her sisters to avoid the accumulation of lactic acid.
Bae Chu-min and Kang Sung-ki helped Lee Hae-na relax for five minutes before letting her sit down.
After less than five minutes of rest, Bae Chu-min and Kang Sung-ki had to go to the next class — the art training class.
Lee Hae-na didn't have any classes next class. She only had a vocal music class in the evening. She changed into a pair of dancing shoes and began to practice modern dance.
Lee Hae-na was a child with a strong sense of concentration.
In other words, when she was immersed in something, she would forget everything, including time and food …
If Xu Yiyang hadn't come to the practice room to find her after the last singing class at seven o 'clock, she probably would have even forgotten to eat dinner.
"Let's go, training maniac."
Xu Yiyang leaned against the door and lazily looked at Lee Hae-na, who was sweating profusely. "The food in the cafeteria is getting cold."
Lee Hae-na finished the last dance step and calmed her breath. Then, she turned to Xu Yiyang and gestured OK. "You go first. I'll go downstairs after I change.
Just help me get some fruit and yogurt. I have to check my weight tomorrow. "
"You're so thin and you still need to control …" Xu Yiyang pursed her lips. "Sigh, I heard from Ye-rin that there's pork rib soup today … Forget it, I'm not eating. I'm scared."
Lee Hae-na didn't know whether to laugh or cry at Xu Yiyang's gluttony. She wiped her sweat and went into the changing room to change.
When Lee Hae-na went to the cafeteria, she saw Xu Yiyang eating an apple while looking at the pork rib soup on the trainee's plate at the next table. Her longing gaze was so intense that it almost turned into a solid light wave and pierced through the other person's plate.
"You can eat it if you want. It won't be a problem for you to eat half a meal." Lee Hae-na teased.
"Devil, don't try to tempt me." Xu Yiyang shook her finger at Lee Hae-na, but her eyes never left the plate opposite her.
Lee Hae-na didn't try to persuade her anymore. She focused on eating her dinner — two bananas, a few small tomatoes, and a cup of nonfat yogurt.
In fact, she didn't deliberately lose weight. It was just that she didn't eat much, and she wasn't interested in the food in the cafeteria, so she chose to eat healthier fruits.
Lee Hae-na, who took ten minutes to finish the fruit and yogurt, took the plate to the recycling area and prepared to continue training.
Xu Yiyang reluctantly said goodbye to the cafeteria and followed her to practice.
Vocal music classes were mainly divided into two categories. One was vocal music.
The second was rap music. At the beginning, trainees had to take both classes. After a period of time, the teacher would give you a position, or you could choose a more suitable class based on your ability. Then, you could specialize in one of the classes.
Lee Hae-na chose vocal music. She was in the same class as Kang Sung-ki. Bae Chu-min was in the rap class.
It was said that after the end of the month evaluation, there would be a group of newcomers selected from overseas. Everyone was afraid of being eliminated, so they practiced very seriously.
Lee Hae-na was no exception. Her high notes were good, but she couldn't go down the low notes. She couldn't even sing the low notes that ordinary people could sing. Otherwise, she would only make a very unpleasant sound.
The whole range of her voice seemed to have moved up a piece.
However, this problem was partially solved in the past few years by changing the position of the voice and amplifying the range. But Lee Hae-na still couldn't sing the songs that were too low.
The song Lee Hae-na chose for the end of the month evaluation was the song that she had previously shown to Yu Yongjin. After changing it more than twenty times, it was basically no longer the same as the original song. But the core meaning was still the same. It was still the theme of a young girl's letter.
She had been practicing this song during the free practice time in class.
When class was over, she hurriedly drank a cup of honey water to moisten her throat.
Although there were no classes after ten o 'clock, each practice room was still full of people practicing.
Lee Hae-na was almost done with her dance practice. She went to the studio to change the song according to the teacher's instructions, and then re-record it.
There weren't many trainees who could compose, and there were even fewer who could take composition classes. So Lee Hae-na wasn't afraid that she wouldn't be able to use the studio if she came late.
Because she didn't like to drink coffee, she first made herself a cup of strong tea and put it in a thermos. She was ready to work until dawn.
Tomorrow was Saturday, so she didn't have to go to class. She only hoped that she could really finish changing the song in one night.
She took out the notes she had taken today, plugged in the USB, turned on the equipment, and Lee Hae-na began her long journey of changing the song.
The first song she had to change was the song with the most problems, R&B (All Kinds of Parting). The teacher said that her feelings weren't deep enough, so the lyric song she wrote always had a stiff feeling. It was like a forced lyric. The melody couldn't resonate with the audience, and the lyrics couldn't be filled in well.
Lee Hae-na turned on the recording equipment and began to recall the scene when she went from China to Korea three years ago. She also said goodbye to some of the trainees she had a good relationship with. She began to hum slowly.
The melody this way was softer than the previous one, but it didn't win by much. After all, the previous song was changed many times before it could be created.
Lee Hae-na took out a blank staff and wrote down the song she had just recorded. Then she tried to merge the original song and the new melody.
This merging process took more than two hours.
Lee Hae-na looked at the colorful staff and felt that she wasn't very satisfied. She copied the changed song to the new staff and continued to change it.
She changed it five or six times before she started to record.
After recording the first song, Lee Hae-na looked at her watch and found that it was already twelve o 'clock. So she didn't rest and quickly started to change the second pop song.
For the intro part of the song, she directly rerecorded the part of the harmonica. She also used three new rhythms that she thought of when she was dancing. She wanted to see which one was better.
As she wrote, she suddenly had a new inspiration. She quickly turned on the recording software on her phone, afraid that she wouldn't be able to record it in time.
The third song was the song that the teacher had instructed her to change, which meant that this song was the best song she had written. She didn't dare to neglect it. She listened to the whole song four or five times and changed it according to her notes.
