The Detective and The Strange Thief

Chapter 13

"You have the right to remain silent, but every word you say will be used as evidence in court."

Zhong Ye looked at the Grand Chancellor, who was sitting opposite him with a straight face. The Grand Chancellor was even wearing a pair of black-rimmed glasses from god knows where. He pointed at the Grand Chancellor with a wooden expression.

"I suspect you have a problem here."

Taizai smiled. "You're now a major suspect. I'm just doing my job seriously."

"I didn't do it."

"Really?"

Taizai suddenly turned his head and waved at the two policemen standing beside him. After they left, he said to Chūya again, "I know."

"You don't suspect me?"

Seeing that there was no one else in the room, Chūya relaxed and leaned comfortably against the back of the sofa. His whole body almost sank into the big cushion. "I was in the room when the body was found. My fingerprints were on the murder weapon. There are witnesses and material evidence. Do you trust me that much?"

"Tsk."

Taizai chuckled and sat on his left. He reached out and grabbed Chūya's right hand. With a click, he unlocked his handcuffs.

Chūya thought Taizai was going to let him go, but he didn't expect Taizai to suddenly lock his free hand on his wrist.

"Hey, what are you doing?" Chūya waved his hand unhappily. "Who wants to be handcuffed to you?"

"It's like I want to, but rules are rules."

"This is the first time I've heard that Taizai has become a person who follows the rules."

Chūya raised his eyebrows and smiled. "I don't know who secretly put a listening device on others, but it was found and thrown away."

"Let's not talk about this first." Taizai smiled bitterly. "Why were you at the scene?"

"Don't worry, I've turned off the surveillance in this room. No one can hear us."

"It's quite interesting." Chūya's eyes flashed. "Do you remember the exhibition hall we passed when we entered?"

"I took a quick look." Taizai tried to recall. "What's wrong? Did you steal something?"

"How is that possible?" Chūya sneered. "They're all worthless fake gold. Why would I touch those things?"

"Fakes?" Taizai keenly grasped the key word. "All of them?"

"Except for the real blue diamond today, everything else is worthless," Chūya said in an unquestionable tone. "I'm a little curious …"

"Don't tell me you went over to ask him why."

Taizai's face was extremely exaggerated and distressed. "After that, you were tricked into a room and injected with an anesthetic. When you woke up, you became a suspect."

Embarrassed, Chūya said angrily, "That's right. What's wrong with that?"

"Alright." Taizai's face clearly said, "Although you are silly, Daddy loves you."

Chūya was so angry that he immediately punched him.

As soon as Chūya's right shoulder moved, Taizai guessed his intention and immediately tilted his head back to dodge.

The two of them had forgotten that they were handcuffed. Chūya was pulled by the handcuffs and pressed against Taizai's body. Taizai was caught off guard, and the two of them rolled from the sofa to the carpet.

"The clear sky on the highest peak of the snow mountain."

For some reason, this description appeared in Taizai's mind.

As soon as he lowered his head, he was met with a pair of icy blue eyes. His face was clearly reflected in those eyes.

They were so close that their breaths intertwined.

For some unknown reason, neither of them spoke.

The room was so quiet and the atmosphere was strange. It was as if they could hear the sound of time passing by.

"You'll be fine."

Zhongye immediately wanted to say, "Who do you think I am? Why would anything happen to me?", but the Grand Chancellor spoke too solemnly. There was a strong emotion in his brown eyes that couldn't be dispelled. This made Zhongye swallow the words he was about to say.

"I …"

"Mr. Taejae."

Akutagawa opened the door and suddenly met the eyes of the two people on the floor.

The three of them were silent for a while. Akutagawa's face turned cold and he asked in a low voice,

"The two of you, this is …"

"I …" Chūya was about to speak, but Taizai beat him to it. "Whatever you think."

Chūya wanted to beat him to death.

As soon as he said that, Akutagawa looked at them with an even stranger expression. Chūya wanted to say something, but when he saw Akutagawa's complicated gaze, he couldn't say anything.

"That's enough."

The Grand Chancellor tried to get up, but he was pushed by Zhongye. He rolled off his body and hit his head on the leg of the coffee table. It was unknown whether it was real pain or acting, but the Grand Chancellor held his forehead and cried out, "Ouch!"

"Akutagawa, what's the matter?"

"I'm here with Akiko. We're about to officially start the autopsy."

"Got it." Chūya looked at Taizai in disdain, but the two of them had no choice but to walk together.

He pursed his lips for a few seconds, but in the end, he held Taizai's hand, and the two of them stood up together.

"Let's go."

He and Akiko had been waiting for them at the door for a while. They were a little impatient, but when they saw Taizai And Zhong behind Akutagawa, they couldn't help but laugh.

"What's going on?"

"He's the suspect, and I'm the detective."

"Get lost." Chūya kicked him.

He and Akiko Yosano glanced at the two of them again. Chūya then remembered that Taizai was still holding his hand. He blushed and wanted to shake Taizai's hand off, but he didn't expect Taizai to hold his hand so tightly. He shook his hand a few times, but Taizai looked at him and let go.

"I've already seen the general situation," he and Akiko Yosano said as they squatted next to the corpse. "Chūya, did you do this?"

"It wasn't me."

The corpse was lying on the ground with its back facing them. He and Akiko checked it and pointed to a stab wound on the right side of the back. "From the back, there's only one wound. It's between the third and fourth ribs. The wound is 6cm, and it pierced through the chest."

Taizai turned the corpse over.

Chūya frowned.

Azai-sama's body was covered in blood. His eyes were wide open, and his face was filled with pain, disbelief, shock, and all kinds of complicated emotions. Together with the dried blood, it was indescribably terrifying.

"The wound on the front …" Akiko's face was still calm. "There's a stab wound on the abdomen about 3cm above the navel. It's about 2cm deep. There's also a wound here on the leg."

Akiko Yosano's face darkened.

"The femoral artery was pierced."

Everyone's heart skipped a beat.

When they saw the terrifying amount of blood in the room, most of them had an idea. Now that Akiko confirmed it, Azai-sama's situation was clear before he died.

After being attacked by a suspect, Azai-sama avoided a wound on his abdomen. Then, his thigh was stabbed. The president lost his balance and fell to the ground. The murderer stabbed him in the back.

Someone sucked in a cold breath.

"Wait."

Akiko Yosano observed Azai-sama's head. She immediately turned on the flashlight and carefully shone it on the president's mouth.

Her face changed. She pressed the corpse's jaw and opened the victim's mouth.

"Bitter almond taste."

She then opened the victim's eyelids as if to confirm something. "KCN poisoning."

"This …"

"KCN." Taizai tapped the ground with his index finger. "The lethal dose is between 50250 milligrams. In other words, it's equivalent to one-third of a capsule."

"Ever since the mystery queen Agatha, KCN has been a must-have in mystery novels." Taizai muttered softly. "As expected, the murderer this time wasn't creative."

"It's hard to say if it was KCN poisoning that killed him."

Akiko had already taken a blood sample and handed it to the forensics department. "The lethal concentration of KCN is 1μg/ml. It still needs to be tested to confirm."

"In other words, Azai-sama's cause of death could be a ruptured femoral artery. It could also be KCN poisoning …" Akutagawa turned around and looked around. His gaze stopped at the cup on the president's desk. "Tanizaki, go and test this cup."

"Got it." Tanizaki immediately took the cup away carefully.

Akiko Yosano had already started to pack up. "The body must be brought back for a comprehensive examination and analysis. The sooner the better."

"This is strange."

Chūya frowned. "If the murderer just wanted to frame me, then the crime scene alone would be enough. Using KCN would be a waste of time. But if they used KCN to kill someone, why would they …"

"Could it be that Thief N wanted to use KCN but didn't expect the president to meet another murderer? Or maybe the murderer found out about the KCN and killed him out of anger?"

The person who spoke was Akutagawa.

"In other words, the murderer we're facing could be the same person, or it could be another murderer or a suspect who attempted murder."

Tanizaki finally reacted. "But why would they want to kill Azai-sama? If it's just for the diamond …"

"There should be two people."

The person who spoke was Taizai.

"Mr. Taejae." Akutagawa immediately looked up. "Why do you think there are two people?"

"Try to recall."

Taizai said slowly, "We found the body, the diamond was stolen, and a car drove out of the villa and crashed. It was as if the murderer calculated the timing and made the moves consecutively.

How could such a meticulous and well-planned criminal do something as superfluous as framing someone and poisoning them?

Because we found the poison, the Central Plains Police's suspicion has been reduced by half. "

Akutagawa nodded. "If that's the case, it's indeed difficult for the Central Plains Police to become a major suspect.

We just got here today. It's unrealistic to complete such a meticulous setup in just a few hours. "

"Hey, say something." Taizai turned his head and whispered into Chūya's ear.

"Didn't you say I'd be fine?" Chūya waved her hand. "Hurry up and untie me."

"Beg me." Taizai blinked.

Chūya rolled her eyes at him.

Taizai was about to speak when Akutagawa's walkie-talkie rang.

Kokida's anxious voice entered everyone's ears.
